As entrepreneurs, we often try and turn our social media feed into one big marketing pitch: proving that we are experts, sharing our products and services daily, signing our own praises and sharing testimonials, but let me tell you something: every single human being out there is struggling and sometimes when we can share that struggle, it can make more of an impact in this world than any marketing pitch ever could.

So many people ask me how I grew my social media following-- like I have a secret and the truth is: I don’t really believe that secrets exist. I grew my following because I became a master at creating connection online… the kind of connection that leads people to talk about me like I’m their best friend and the same kind of connection that leaves people telling their friends about me. That, my friends, is the secret to growth: serve the people that are showing up for you SO well that they come back and they bring friends.

It’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of social media analytics. I LOVE numbers, in fact, in episode 15 I shared that I was afraid to tell you how obsessive I can get with numbers. For me, in a creative world where very few things are concrete and measurable, numbers give me relief and so when I started to dig into my Instagram analytics, I wasn’t entirely shocked at the results, in fact, I smiled because 90% of my top performing posts had nothing to do with marketing or anything that I was selling, they had to do with something I’m passionate about and something I’m struggling with: body confidence.

Now, hear me out before you think I’m about to tell you to show up online in your underpants (because I’ll be honest, I know you probably won’t do that… although I have to tell ya, it’s not as scary as you might think.) Sometimes the things we are most insecure about, most scared to share… those are the things that will form the deepest connections.

Goal Diggers, I am teaming up with a fellow lady boss podcaster, the incredible Jamie Ivey of the Happy Hour Podcast! Jamie has always inspired me with her ability to be so vividly authentic and so relaxed in sharing her faith, no matter what platform she is on. She truly emits her faith (and her humanness!) in every interaction. When she talks blatantly about it, it never seems preachy or intense-- it just seems very real, very inviting. I love her voice, and I think we all have something to learn about sharing our true selves: whether it is our faith, our struggles, our ambitions-- whatever it is, Jamie is about to show you how to emit your true self on this wild little online world we live in.

Also, Jamie is a past radio show host (yes, really!) so it's safe to say that she is a phenomenal interviewer and provided for one of the most well-spoken interviews we've had. We covered everything from:

-Content creation

-How to start a podcast

-How to write a book -

Bringing personality to your brand and social media -Her adoption journey

-Her faith mission

It's safe to say we covered ALL of the bases with this phenomenal woman, and I cannot wait to hear what you take away from today! If there is a specific tidbit that helped you, let us know at @goaldiggerpodcast on Instagram. We can't wait to hear from you!

WOWZA. This episode release is making me feel more vulnerable than just about any release yet....

Ever since my sister started managing Goal Digger, she has been trying to convince me that listeners *genuinely* want to hear about my LIFE-- not just business topics. Say, what?! My little life in small-town Wisconsin is considered interesting?!

But, sometimes little sisters can convince you of crazy stuff, and we put together our first episode dedicated solely to answering listener’s most-asked personal questions about my life! (Still crazy to me!)

Tune into this episode if you want an authentic look into my everyday life and most monumental moments. Everything from my faith story to my favorite netflix shows all the way to “the one thing I wish I could tell my future child”....

This one is real, it is raw, .... (and you just may hear your question and name mentioned on air!)

Goal Diggers, you are meeting one of the biggest players on team Jenna Kutcher, Danielle Prahl.

Danielle is the epitome of a Goal Digger: a self-made tech brainiac, a momma, and one of the smartest, kindest, most encouraging women I know. She works behind the scenes for me in SO many ways: growing my email list, creating opt-ins and funnels, and dreaming big dreams right alongside me.

I had Danielle on the show to talk about her unique journey and her uplifting, but “no excuses” attitude. Danielle is one of the hardest working, most innovative thinking women I know, and her wisdom is going to rock. your. world.

Danielle has transitioned from a workaholic woman to one of the most balanced, wise, even-keeled people I know. In this episode she will help you find the peace and stillness within the chaos of life and help you create the life you’ve dreamed of!

You can’t miss this one, Goal Diggers. Meet, Danielle Prahl!

We’re learning more each day about the power of human connection. People are far more likely to trust a business that has a personality behind it. While businesses may have been able to get away with only sharing their products in the past, I think consumers are getting better at spotting and blocking promotions, paid ads, and sales pitches. It simply isn’t enough to only share your work anymore!

One of the biggest things I’ve seen this year is a shift toward more authenticity and vulnerability online and through that, more depth of the connections we’re making with our clients, customers, and followers. If you really want to take people from simply followers to true fans, it’s time to focus on creating a brand that shares more than what you have to sell.

On the episode I share my Jenna Kutcher 5 method where I take five categories of my personal brand and just rotate through them (including a business thing or two!), but where I strive to create connection points beyond what I am selling. Created a well-rounded brand will give people a reason to follow you even if they aren't currently on the market for what you're selling!

Ready to share your heart *and* grow your biz?! Let's dive on in!

I talk a lot about launching and why I love teaching online courses but this episode is going to get super technical and break down the behind the scenes of our fall launch of The Photo Lab! Now, this wasn’t our biggest launch ever monetarily BUT it was by far the smoothest launch we have ever led and for me, that’s the biggest win. I have cracked the code to a smooth, successful launch and I'm ready to share it with you!

Trust me, I have lived through bad launches-- the kind where it sort of feels like you are in fight or flight for a week straight? Yup, I've been there. But with minor tweaks along the way, our team has designed a fool-proof way to slow down, systemize our process, *and* still move the bottom line.

Are you ready to up your launch game or are just looking where to start? Here is my step-by-step formula to a happy, relaxed, (and profitable!) launch! Let's do this!

Nastia Liukin’s crowning achievement was at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, but winning five medals was only the beginning for this golden girl.

After returning home, she graced the pages of countless magazines and appeared on various TV shows, while even being chosen as one of 2009’s most influential people by MSN Lifestyle, and graduating from NYU. She remains an ambassador for the sport, and continue to uplift women in sports everywhere.

But her path wasn’t always clear after the Olympic Games. Nastia gives us an incredibly open, vulnerable look into her unique path and what it feels like to “believe your best work is behind you”. Whether you are a sports fan or not, this episode is incredibly relatable: from family dynamics and movin' into a new city, all the way to shifting careers and setting big goals, Nastia is undoubtedly going to inspire you to dream big dreams, set even bigger goals, and work your tail off every day to live your best life.

You can’t miss this one, Goal Digger. (PSSST: I have a feeling her story is going to leave you speechless....)

3 reasons you need a list EVEN if you’re a << Insert ANY Business Here >>

Here we go with round 2 of a mini list building series I’m doing on the podcast this week. It’s the first time I’ve taken two full episodes back to back to talk about one topic. Why? Because it’s just *that* important. We got so many questions from you guys on email marketing when we polled my audience about your questions, fears and where you’re getting stuck - so tune in to episode 116 if you haven’t already - it’s a good one!

A common question I want to tackle that we got was “why do I need a list if I’m a … photographer, florist, graphic designer, product shop …) and I want to get across to you today that whether you’re a service, product or education based business, list building and serving that list through email needs to be your NUMBER ONE PRIORITY in the new year. It’s definitely mine, in fact - one of my goals is to grow my email list larger than my social media accounts combined (yes, really).

So let’s jump in and talk about why an email list is the ONE thing you're missing (it won't take me long to convince you, I promise.)

PSSST: Bonus! The shownotes on this episode are unreal helpful! Head over to jennakutcherblog.com/email/ if you're READY to make 2018 your year!

That's right, your biggest questions about email lists, answered on air. Everything from starting at ground zero all the way to creating opt-ins you dream client can't resist.

Email marketing is such a big, scary topic... but it truly doesn't have to be! If you’re wondering how to get people to sign up for your list, what the heck to say to them or if the fears of tech or staying consistent or not sounding too pushy are things keeping you from implementing an email marketing strategy for your business, then this episode is for YOU.

Jan 3, 2018

You would think with a name like “goal digger” I would be a giant fan of goal setting but the truth is, in the past, it hasn’t always worked for me. It’s that time of year again - the goal setting central time of year when everyone creates resolutions and announces them to the world in hopes that maybe it will actually stick.

Now I don’t know about you - but a lot of times I totally flop and fail on these goals and I usually start writing in a planner and by February 2nd, I don’t even know where that planner is and I haven’t written in it for two weeks. I’ve tried and tried to crack the code on how to approach New Year goal setting and I FINALLY figured out a few hacks that helped me not just achieve my goals but crush them.

...and today I'm letting YOU in. Let's make 2018 OUR year, eh?!

"Done is better than perfect" is a phrase you've probably heard me say a million times on this podcast, but it's only because I believe in its message so darn much! But, I get it, it is straight up HARD to put yourself out there-- flaws and all- but guys, there will never be a perfect moment! Start today, adjust as needed, and grow!

Which is exactly why I couldn't resist asking the adaptability queen, Bethany McDaniel, onto the show. Bethany owns the most incredible, all-natural skincare brand Primally Pure, and has adjusted her sails constantly along the way. In this episode, Bethany tells us how she made the "jump" into pursuing her hobby as a business and how she blew full steam ahead despite the imperfect beginning stages.

Not only is her story crazy inspiring, but she also gives her top tips as to how YOU can engage your audience, receive feedback, and GROW your business. We'll cover everything from how to receive your feedback (both good and bad!) all the way to tweaking your product (and BONUS, you'll hear this expert's TOP tips for glowing, radiant skin!) Not only is this super episode relatable-- but is SO important for moving your business forward! As we approach 2018, it's time to live out our mantra: DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT. Let's make stuff happen, Goal Diggers.
