It’s been a little over a year since I opened my online shop: Shop Jenna Kutcher. It’s been a crazy, beautiful addition to my business and it’s been something I’ve been digging into as we’ve navigated this season of life because having an online digital store has been an incredible addition to my business for a few big reasons.

I love having our shop because:

1. I have created resources that have helped me that are now available for everyone to enjoy and use. Why hide all the templates and tools I had built for my business that had attributed to my success? It’s been awesome to say: are you struggling with xyz? I have a resource for this exact thing.

2. It gives me the chance to reach my people with offers that are more accessible for those not ready to take a course or not in a financial place to purchase a full course or system. I love being able to sell well priced products that can help change businesses and give people the tools that they might not be able to purchase elsewhere.

3. It is 90% automated and digital which means we can serve our clients quickly, it’s open and available all the time, and most of it is run through automation which means less work on our part to get people what they need and to deliver a good client experience without having to be attached to every single sale. Have you thought about starting a Shopify shop? Today I am going to walk you through how I've made over $218,000 in just ONE year.

Katie Sturino is the queen of doing it ALL, and in such a poised, professional way! You may know her as, her signature, the size 12(ish) New Yorker who believes great style can look chic at any size. Her platform the12ishstyle.com to inspire girls like her who are stuck in size purgatory - not quite "plus size", not quite "straight-sized". Not only that, she is also the founder and CEO of Megababe Beauty, a women's comfort line that launched in June of 2017. AND if that wasn’t enough, she is the momma and social media guru behind the two insta-famous pups, Cheese and Muppet. Safe to say, she does it all-- and she does it so well!

I wanted Katie to come on for those of us that are running one business, but have an idea for a second… and a third… and you get the idea! It’s crazy to think that in a few short months, we’ll be welcoming a baby into our home and lives and everything will change. If you’ve followed our journey for a while, you know that our road to baby hasn’t been easy. AND tell you the five big things I am doing to prepare for maternity leave:

I want to talk about it. The messy stuff, the embarrassing, the humiliating, the shameful… I want to talk about it. But it’s not always easy. You see, there are some BIG topics out there: body shaming, discrimination, inequality, war, oppression, shame, guilt…. But they aren’t always easy to address.

Insert: today’s guest. Alex LaRosa is a plus size model, blogger, and self love advocate based in Los Angeles… This Cali native is ready to share her message of self acceptance and personal growth. She has two major goals: to help other women become the most powerful version of themselves and to see these women represented in fashion. The launch of Visibly Plus Size is a result of Alex's unwavering belief that all different types of women (no matter their size, age, or the color of their skin) benefit from seeing images that represent them in the media.

Aside from her brilliant business and insane modelling skills, what also captured my eye is the way that Alex speaks about topics that matter. She recently caught my eye in an instagram comment section where there was a heated debate, and her responses were 1) respectful, but also informative and persuasive. I was so captivated by how this woman spoke up for what she believed that I knew I had to have her on the show. Goal Diggers, without any further adieu, welcome Alex Larosa!

Part of being an entrepreneur means putting on your customer service hat and serving people well - but what happens when things go bad? What implications does it have on not just your business but your life? And how do you pull yourself out of those situations and use them to sincerely grow? I’ll be honest, in my seven years of entrepreneurship, I can count these awful experiences on one hand - maybe two if I took some time to really remember the things that I’ve likely blocked from my memory but when I look back, those were some of the best growing moments in my business, even though those times were rough - like really rough. So today, I want to break down some of the worst experiences that have happened to me in as an entrepreneur and then shed a light on what I ultimately ended up learning the really hard way.

My ultimate superwoman, my momma! My mom truly does it all: she is a mother of three (I have one brother and one sister), she has been married for 37 years, is a grandma to two (with two more on the way!), she has been a nurse for over 37 years and specifically a nursing instructor for 29. Not to mention, she coordinates my mastermind, is a Make A Wish granter, and is just generally the most positive, calming person you could ever be around!

Today, I wanted my mom to come in to discuss #allthethings like only a mother could do. Hearing what it was like being a working momma, how she found her path, what advice she has for me as I become a mom, what she *really* thinks of my career, and just ALL the mom goodness! Safe to say, I will treasure this episode forever-- without further adieu, my momma, Sue Shelerud!

Today I am sharing the 3 things I did right and wrong as a wedding photographer. I will always be a photographer though and I still plan to shoot. It’s just going to look a little bit different than it has…

As I reflect on a career that was filled with incredible couples and days spent documenting love and happiness, I realize that I have learned so much on this journey and today I get to share my biggest wins and the places where I really dropped the ball in the hopes that you can learn from my experiences.

Before we dive on it, if you’re a photographer or interesting in becoming one, I am I hosting a free master class between the dates of September 11th and September 13th. There are 5 different time slots you can sign up for, so head over to http://photowebinar.com/to save your seat for this free training as I’m going to be sharing the 3 biggest marketing hacks that helped me fill my calendar for all of those years!

Have you ever taken part in an online challenge? Whether it’s a work out challenge, an Instagram challenge, a clean eating, yoga, money or a clean house challenge - there is SOMETHING about challenges that I want to teach about today - because maybe your next big project could be hosting your very own challenge. There’s something about the momentum of doing things as a group, seeing results quickly and the comradery that makes free challenges successful and I want to help you harness the power of a challenge and use it to grow your reach and your profits.

Three years ago, I hosted my first challenge ever. I remember thinking that a challenge could be a good way to teach free content and get people on board with my strategies while also building a community that would allow me to intimately connect with the people I was trying to reach. My first challenge was a 7 day Instagram challenge where I sent challengers a prompt each day today I want to dissect what worked, what didn’t work, what to do if you want to host a challenge, and the biggest benefits that challenges can bring to your business!

Goal Diggers, we all know social media is one of THE best ways to get word out there about your business… but sometimes it can get tricky. Today, I wanted to focus on one specific facet of social media that rarely gets taught but can make a GIANT impact on how you’re engaging with your audience: How to ROCK your instagram stories! If you are not utilizing IG stories yet, it’s FINALLY time to get on board. And if you are… it’s time to make sure you are using it to its full potential because it is one of the most unique, impactful ways to move your business forward, engage with your fans in an authentic way, and expand your connection with your followers.

Live video is a newer feature in the social media world and with additions like IGTV happening, it’s clear Instagram is sending us a message that if we aren’t using video yet, we better figure out our strategy with it. Essentially, we have a few different options to record ourselves, publish it, and chat with your followers/potential clients. It can be intimidating absolutely, but it is so incredible because it allows you to connect with your audience in real time (and beyond!) and adds an irreplaceable level of humanness and uniqueness to your brand. You essentially get to draw in your potential clients and spread your message in authentic way for free!

Let’s dig in and get specific on the strategy around IG stories and many ways to utilize this feature— from swipe ups, photos, graphics, text overlay, live video, featured stories and MORE! You can use it from your personal or you business page, but regardless, there are certain tips to making sure your message gets across and properly received!

PODCASTING FOR DUMMIES. If you're considering starting a podcast, wondering what goes into podcasting, or just curious about our behind-the-scenes of this show, this episode is for you! I want to be open about the nitty gritty process of starting a podcast from A to Z and let you in on how you can start one of your own!

I’ll admit, starting a podcast is one of the vaguest things in the world. I spent so many days on google trying to find details on things like “How do I get onto iTunes” or “who makes my intro?” It’s still a relatively new “thing”, so you feel a little lost when starting. How do I pick my topic? Demographic? Show name? How the heck do I get a theme song? How do I record it?

Safe to say there are a million and one questions and today we will be covering how we started this “little” show that’s grown into one of the biggest pieces of my business. It’s crazy to think that this started less than two years ago and we have already cracked the top 5 out of ALL business shows and top 50 of ALL podcasts. For reference there are over a billion subscriptions spread across 250,000 unique podcasts in more than 100 languages, and that more than 8 million episodes have been published in the iTunes Store to date. Like, that’s insane. But in order to thrive, you have to start with a foundation, and today I am going to teach you how to do JUST that!

Wow, wow, wow. This guest. Her mission… Brit Barron is the co-founder of Other Dreamers Culture Consultants and a speaker, writer and diversity and inclusion trainer. Brit spends a lot of time thinking about and talking about how race, gender and sexuality and spirituality interact with our everyday lives and our work. Brit is obsessed with finding new ways to connect people and things that have been told they should not go together. She has a bachelors and masters degrees in psychology and is probably already analyzing me as I type this!

Brit has spoken all over the country, she has a TED talk about Beyonce and race in America and she is ready to share her expertise with you! I was introduced to you by the women dynamo Emily Sexton (remember her LIFE CHANGING episode?!). Emily consulted Brit to ensure that her business was casting a wide net and ensuring that every woman felt heard, seen, and valued. And wow, is Brit the perfect person for the job! In this episode you will learn how to easily cultivate a network of connection and support, pioneer change and inclusion in your workplace (...and your life!), find genuine community, tackle the “hard” topics, and how to truly live a life that exemplifies “community over competition.” You in?

"At the end of the day, we are BETTER TOGETHER than separate. Governments with more women involved have higher rates of peace. Companies with higher amounts of people with color in leadership, do better economically because they reach more markets... so yes, we are better together. But first, we have to deal with why those people weren't at the table to begin with." Simply put, Brit knows her stuff. She is an expert on inclusion: from her unique personal perspective to statistics all the way to tangible action steps, Brit is reminding us every day that "people matter." Always, and in all ways.

This. Woman. Boundary-breaking, unifying, inspiring... every possible positive adjective I could write. She is something so rare and the way that she talks about things that matter is so inspiring to me. Goal Diggers, the magic in this episode could change your life- and I know I always say this, but you cannot miss it. Like really, click "play" now. Okay? Okay :)

SEO. Search Engine Optimization. It makes many of us want to put our head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist, am I right? I’m guilty of having done that for years until I realized it’s not as scary as we’ve made it out to be and there are some major benefits that can come from some simple implementation on your end. So today I want to break it down and demystify this topic for all of you - because it’s time to put some strategy behind our search engine results.

Search Engine Optimization basically means the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine. SEO can be a really complex topic to cover (especially on a podcast!) so my goal today is breaking it down to the basics, tell you where best to invest your time, and prove to you that it’s not so scary so you take action and get started. In my experience, even starting out small with a simple strategy can make a big impact on the traffic that is coming to your website…. Because what good is a website if no one knows it exists?

Let me give it to ya straight: this blog post is only the outline of this show. To get the full impact of this show, I recommend reading along with this blog and writing down all the specific details to maximize your SEO journey.

If you hit play on this episode, my guess is you already know you need to be doing this - so let’s not ignore it anymore - ok?

I have been waiting to have this guest on for what feels like FOREVER. Jen Gotch is the epitome of a girl boss as she founded ban.do with a friend in 2008 and with no prior business experience, was able to transform it from a small, vintage, one-of-a-kind hair accessories company into a multimillion-dollar brand within years. after a long (and winding) road of jobs that led her to where she is today, she’s now the chief creative officer and fearless leader of the ban.do team.

On top of that, she is a fierce mental health advocate and I am so excited to hear her inspiring messages surrounding both business and life. In this episode, you will learn how Jen got her amazing start to ban.do, but also why her current mission is spreading awareness about mental health. Find out how why Jen thinks entrepreneurs are specifically challenged by mental health concerns, tangible way that we can be there for one another, how to actually TALK about such an “uncomfortable topic”, create change, and create community. Goal Diggers, this episode is about to remind you that everything you are feeling today is OKAY. You are not alone and we are all in this together.

Whoa, vulnerability alert…. NEW EPISODE: The 10 Biggest Mistakes I’ve Made In My Business

I’m a true believer that taking action in our businesses is one of the most important priorities we can make. I hear business owners agonize over what to do so much that they become stuck and don’t make any decision at all…. but that’s not me.

The worst thing that can happen is that we will make a mistake, learn from it, grow and move on. To prove this, today I’m going to talk about the 10 BIGGEST mistakes in my business and how I’ve worked through each mistake, used it to help me shape who I am and my beloved biz.

I’m not about only putting my best foot forward, hiding behind highlight reels or pretending to have it all together… I’d rather be an open book to help you learn from my experience. Whew, this episode is no joke… You ready?

(This episode was so vulnerable for me so please tell me your biggest takeaway below so I can feel like I didn’t just share all of that for nothing!)

Sheri Salata, guys. What. A. Lady! You may know her as the past executive Producer of the Oprah Winfrey Show and former Co-President of Harpo Studios and OWN, but Sheri’s current venture is just as exciting!

Her action-packed days as Executive Producer on The Oprah Winfrey Show have come to a close when she chose to leave to co-found her own company, STORY, a media company producing print, digital, and live event content...

Sheri has been named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business, The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Power 100 and the 2017 Feminist Press Power Award winners. She is also a co-host of the popular podcast series “This is Fifty” where she summarizes mid-life as she sets out to make the rest of her dreams come true.

Today, I asked Sheri to come on because (let’s be real!) I just want to hear her story! So many facets of her life are inspiring to me! How she worked her way up working for Oprah, what it takes to “make it” in a media world, her work ethic, her creativity, and ultimately, what it was like leaving such a comfortable, well-known job to pursue her own path! Giddy up, Goal Diggers, because you are about to hear one amazing story!

---

Not only are we going to dive into the emotions of being a driven woman, but give YOU tips on how to capitalize on these feelings when they come. Whether it is a seemingly negative trait or a positive, I am going to help you take control and use it for good! Ya ready?

Goal Diggers, I am legitimately GIDDY to share this episode with you. Today, i am introducing you to one of the most magnetic women I know. Emily Sexton is a force to be reckoned with and I’ve been able to experience her magic first-hand in my mastermind group this year.

With a past career on Wall Street as a Vice President of Communications and Change Management, Emily brings her ‘win them over’ know-how, delightful enthusiasm and every day wit to encourage American consumers to use their purchasing power for good. From Wall Street to the streets with no name, you can now find Emily traveling in developing nations to find gorgeous new goods for her Downtown Raleigh Boutique + online shop, The Flourish Market. She is an overly obsessed dog mom, an unlikely Crossfitter, a contributor to The Huffington Post, and an avid believer that every woman is worthy of influence.

Today, Emily is going to teach us her signature topic: How to Influence Others. Goal Diggers, I cannot emphasize how important this episode is. Whether you are an entrepreneur, college student, or single mom, there is value in knowing how to communicate well, own your story, and connect with others in a powerful way. Goal diggers, I CANNOT wait for you to harness your inner voice and learn from this one in a million woman....
